NHL Trade Deadline 2015

The NHL trade deadline had the most players moved since 2010 but most of the good deals were in the month leading up to the deadline so we will include that in the rankings too.

Winners: Winnipeg, Montreal, Buffalo, Chicago

Both of the teams involved in the Tyler Myers deal are here because that deal helped both teams, because Buffalo is trying to get Connor McDavid, and because of the deals that Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff orchestrated to bolster his forward lineup. Montreal makes the list because of their additions of Jeff Petry and Torrey Mitchell for draft picks, thereby increasing their chances at a Stanley Cup, and Chicago makes it on because they are increasing their chance at a Cup even with the Patrick Kane injury by winning the Antoine Vermette sweepstaskes.

Losers: LA, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay

Both of the Cup finalists last year were trying to improve their chances and they did, but at too steep a price. New York gave up Anthony Duclair and 2 picks for Keith Yandle who only has one year left on his deal and LA gave up a first round pick and a prospect for Andrej Sekera who is a rental and depending on LA's position in the standings and contract renewal if applicable , Sekera may only play 20 games for the franchise before leaving, but he also may play years depending on if they renew him. Tampa was also on the wrong end of a lopsided deal when they got Brayden Coburn for a first round pick, a 3rd round pick, and a solid roster player, Radko Gudas. However, Coburn has 3 years left on his contract, so this may turn out good after all.
